Artist Kieren Reed is collaborating with people from Sittingbourne and further afield to create a functional artwork for Milton Creek Country Park, Sittingbourne.
Over 2018/2019 participants are coming together for events. In 2019 training in self-build techniques will take place, and in August the barn will be ‘raised’ by the community, an act of theatre for participants and spectators, with the lifting of the largest sections of timber and the performance of other traditional construction rituals, including ‘topping out’ and a feast on-site at the end of each working day.
On Saturday 21st April 2018 the first public conversation was held at No 34, High Street, Sittingbourne, exploring potential designs and future uses for the Sittingbourne Barn.
