Water Bodies
Open Day at the Water Bodies School of Evolution #2: Lecture Performance

Sunday 3 June 2018
13:00—14:00

Sea Cadets’ Hall

Join Water Bodies’ School of Evolution for an introductory performance lecture on their work, aims and methods.

Water Bodies* (est. 2017) is a project in embodied research, ‘helping humans of all ages evolve into aquatic beings’. They are refining the curriculum for a future in water and accepting new students at their temporary base, Whitstable Sea Cadets (est.1845), the world’s oldest organisation of its kind ‘helping local young people launch in the world today’.

Drawing from hydrofeminism, somatic practice, deep listening and radical pedagogy, Water Bodies investigate technologies resident in the body and develop tools for adapting to life in water, not as visitors but eventual inhabitants. Water Bodies ask: Can we start the evolution today?

For those wishing to explore the Water Bodies curriculum in greater depth, there will be a closed session of Critical Swimming on Tuesday 5 June. This event will take place in the sea, so participants must be capable swimmers. Numbers for this are limited. Please see here for more details

*Zoe Czavda Redo & Tuuli Malla, with Sarah Jane Moloney, Julian Weaver, Sarah Blissett and others.
