See Biennale highlights on on of our Critics Tours, following an expert guide around key venues, catching timed performances and films along the way.

This year we have a range of critics and curators with experience in film festivals and artworks in the public realm, as well as writers for the Guardian, frieze & Art Monthly.

Thea Smith is a writer, curator and cyclist based in London. She received her MA in Critical writing in Art and Design from the RCA. She was Deputy Director of Deptford X, and co-founder of SALT. magazine.

Ellen Mara De Wachter is a writer and curator based in London. She is a frequent contributor to Frieze magazine, and her writing has featured in exhibition catalogues and publications such as Mousse, Art Monthly, Art Review, Flash Art International, Garage, Art Quarterly, Elephant, The Quietus, and on BBC Radio 4. Her book ‘Co-Art: Artists on Creative Collaboration’, published by Phaidon, explores the phenomenon of collaboration in the visual arts and its potential in society at large.

Jennifer Thatcher is a freelance art critic, lecturer and public programmes curator, based in Folkestone. She is a regular contributor to Art Monthly and ARTnews. She curated the adult public programmes for the last two editions of the Folkestone Triennial, and was previously director of talks at the ICA, London. She is also a PhD candidate, researching the history of the artist interview. A selection of her interviews was recently published in Art Monthly’s anthology Talking Art 2.
