Around Whitstable
15:00-17:00 Sunday 27 June

Artist Lottie Child brings her ‘Street Training’ project to Whitstable. Working with the physical and social architecture of the town, she will host a tour which is led by a group of young ‘Street Trainers’ drawn from the local area. Child’s practice explores the threshold of creative and anti-social behaviour, emboldening individuals to affect their public space, and move through it with joy and creativity. Participants are led to observe, analyse, intervene and play through the space that they move within.

Lottie Child works with performance, music and workshops, and is the founder of ‘Street Training’ an international network of individuals working to actively shape their environment and behaviour with safety and joy. Recently ‘Street Training’ has been situated at the Tate Britain, in Favela Morro dos Prazeres in Rio de Janeiro and at The Cube, Manchester. She lectures at University of the Arts, London and she has shown internationally. Child has undertaken residencies at Camden Arts Centre, London and Palais Pinakothek Der Moderne, Munich. Her practice is regularly extended through teaching, lecturing and publishing activities.
