Matt Rudkin and Edwina Ashton : Collaboration

Matt Rudkin and Edwina Ashton will be devising a new piece during a weeklong frenzy of creative cross-fertilisation combining Rudkin¹s approach to cabaret and street theatre and Ashton¹s animal costumes in what will undoubtedly be a funny and ingenious production. Since the devising process shall take place primarily during their Whitstable residency, it is not yet possible to provide adetailed description of the performance, but festival goers can safely expect a grotesque and twisting tale of mutant creatures eking out meagre existences in stark, inhospitable surroundings. Think Samuel Beckett meets the Muppets in an episode of Doctor Who - alienation, object animation and extermination. Quoting the theatrical language of German Expressionism, this piece will be excessively over-acted in a dark medley of soul-sapping scenes, sometimes with songs.
